“There’s tons of things you can do with CO₂. One of the largest opportunity areas, and our commercial thesis, is that you’re going to achieve both the most economic growth and environmental progress by injecting CO₂ into building materials and in synthetic aviation fuels.”

Mission Zero drew inspiration from the way the human body transports CO₂ from our tissues, to our lungs, and out through our breath to build a technology that captures CO₂ from the air.

“It starts with a fan, a really big fan that takes in thousands and thousands of liters of air per second and it moves that air through kind of like a controlled waterfall where the air and the water are brushing past each other and the CO₂ transfers from the air into the liquid.”

Frontier is an advance market commitment (AMC) that aims to accelerate the development of carbon removal technologies by guaranteeing future demand for solutions like the one Mission Zero is building. It’s funded by Stripe, Alphabet, Shopify, Meta, McKinsey, and tens of thousands of businesses using Stripe Climate. Climate models project that by 2050 we will need to permanently remove billions of tons of CO₂ from the atmosphere every year.
