What Totera Clients Need to Know About the Upcoming Changes at NameGig
We have recently become aware of two major changes that will be affecting some Totera clients using NameGig products:
- NameGig will be retiring all email plans and migrating users over to Microsoft 365.
If you are using Workspace Email at NameGig, you will receive an email 30 days prior to the migration. There will be a cost difference, and some changes will be required for each email account that is accessed via a desktop or mobile email app. We have compiled a list of alternatives below, and will be able to recommend the best solution based on each of our clients' needs.
- Legacy websites will be migrated to new servers.
Totera clients still using CMS Made Simple or Wordpress for their website and/or blog platform will be moved to different servers by NameGig. Depending on the version of CMS Made Simple, this could cause sites to stop functioning. It might be a good time to start thinking of migrating to Tada - our simplified web editor platform. Email Options
There are many email providers out there. Totera has researched and tested the industry leaders and recommend the following three options depending on organizational needs and budget.
Google Workspace
Formally called G-Suite, Google Workplace includes email and the full suite of Google's productivity tools.
Those familiar with Gmail and Google Docs will find it easy to switch to this solution.

Namecheap
This is an affordable option that will require a bit more setup, but is very similar to the old NameGig system.

Microsoft 365
This is NameGig's choice, and if you choose to not change providers, you will be migrated to the basic MS 365 account. Those that prefer Microsoft products like Word, Excel and Outlook can upgrade and get access to online versions of the full Microsoft suite.

NameGig periodically updates their server software in order to keep up with the latest security and performance standards. The next round of upgrades will also upgrade the server operating system and scripts such as PHP which some software like CMS Made Simple use.
