Olga to Doe Bay

Eternity ?

Although nothing was planned, as I sat quietly at anchor listening to the morning birds sing their song, I had a feeling it would be a good day...

We sailed directly to Doe Bay, anchored and relaxed. When traveling on a motorcycle, (my second favorite way to travel), there is a constant heightened awareness, but when you stop, you are stopped and can relax. Sailing is different because you can’t ever just be done. When you are anchored there is motion and you have to make sure you are not dragging anchor and going to crash into the rocks. So, unless you get off the boat, you are always in that heightened state of awareness. It was great to not be alone at this point. It was becoming difficult to sail alone. I had never been sailing three days in a row in my life. So these five solo days were taking their toll. Debbie has a way of comforting me and that is what I needed. We sat and relaxed in the cockpit when I noticed a low flying plane then realized it was a bald eagle. We saw another, then another.

They soared all around us—never flapping just soaring around up and down in a circle around us. We looked at each other and there was a moment I will never forget. I simply said,
"Eternity?"
And she answered, "Yes."

A special place in time.

Surprises in reality.

We rowed to shore
took a soak in the hot tub
                                                                          then went out to dinner.
                                                                                                                            Karaoke ensued.

It was a good day.

It's a small world after all. It's a small small world.
